The Congress of the People is committed to ensuring that the public is served by a party operating on the basis of integrity, and with high moral and ethical standards.
To that end, article 1.2. of the Constitution of COPE states that all members and leaders must, at all times:
- Conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the dignity of the office they serve
- Not use their office to gain special privileges or benefits
- Refrain from acting in an official capacity where there is a potential conflict of interest
- All members who avail themselves for leadership positions within COPE must sign an undertaking to advance the party and to defend our constitutional democracy.
The Congress of the People also encourages and supports codes of ethics for public officials and employees in national, provincial and local government.
